Boer War Any records (Completed)
« on: Friday 06 November 09 00:52 UTC (UK) »

I was told that one of my relations fought in the Boer War (Richard Watkins of Rangiora) Is there any records held with the names of these men who served?  NZ Archives do not seem to have any, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Regards

Hi Suzy

Did you have a look at the Cenotaph database (Auckland Museum) ?

They have a record for

Richard Henry WATKINS - Boer War - 1899-1902

[Site says record is available from Archives NZ ] :

Archway (NZ Archives) have a personnel record for a Richard Henry Watkins (served 1899 - 1902) but no indication of where he came from

This can be viewed at the Archives in Wellington - I know they can also digitise WW1 records (at a cost) but not sure about these earlier ones

If you think it's him it's probably worth checking with them

Cheers
Sue

Smiley   That's OK  ... yep, they seem to have done away with that "red warning" we used to receive alerting us that another post had been made to the thread.    Cheesy
