I was having a little look at Census 1901 online & was wondering what is the source of the data, is it the same as the others?, ie, if you use one search site then try another are you paying twice for no reason, if you know what I mean
The original document is the same, but the results depend on the transcription. Many sites have used the same transcription, so the same errors may occur in a few sites. What should be taken into account is the ease of searching, using wildcards, allowing blank fields etc. This is critical when searching for names that are frequently incorrectly transcribed - and some of them are "way out"!
Although there are some crazy mistranscriptions, Ancestry is possibly way ahead when it comes to flexibility of searching, but in the end it is a matter of choice.
