George SHEPPARD, 1830s transported to Aus
« on: Friday 06 November 09 08:29 UTC (UK) »

On Jan 6 1836 George Sheppeard was sentenced to 7yrs transportation for Larceny at Woodbridge Court. Was this George Sheppeard the son of Edward Sheppard and Eliza Basket, christened Nov 1810 in Pettaugh, and wife Sarah, possibly Adams? (I cant find marriage). Two children Ephraim(1832) and George(1835).
Was the case reported in the local papers?

Any help appreciated

Allan

From the Suffolk Marriage Index.

George Sheppard
Sarah Adams
both of the parish
24th December, 1830
Ipswich St. Clement.

It was reported in the Ipswich Journal = January 9th, 1836 that  George stole ten hogs, the property of Mr. John Turner of Pettaugh.
