Hi weetabix

Welcome to Rootschat!  Smiley

There is a map of Blackhill cemetery on this site:
http://www.gravetext.co.uk/Blackhill/blackhill.html

but you would need to know the plot numbers and more details, so it would be better to contact Derwentside Council to ask them for the grave numbers

Derwentside District Council Offices, Medomsley Road, Consett DH8 5JA
Telephone Number: 01207 218 314

Kind regards

Thank you Barbara Smiley I have searched the old graveyard south and the only information I can get is that 2 Mckeeganey's are buried there so would I be right in thinking they would be in the new North graveyard.
Thanks once again for your help Smiley

Hi Sheena

I'm sorry I can't tell you that, but if you contact the cemeteries department at Derwentside council hopefully they can tell you more, as I said, they should know the grave numbers, and perhaps tell you whether or not there is a gravestone

Do you have their death certificates, to be certain they are your grandparents?
Kind regards

Do you have any census information for them?  I thought it might be an Irish name, and I think this may be the family in 1891, indexed as McKaigrey and not easy to make out on the image but could be written as McKagany

Wondering if Anthony was married twice or just married late?

from freebmd

marriage registration   Jun 1908  Gateshead    10a   1707
McKEGANY   Anthony     and on same page
IVESON    Jane    and      LOVELY    Jane Alice

the marriage you're looking for:
Mar 1933  Gateshead    10a   1190
McKEEGANY    Anthony      and   MELVILLE  Ethel

haven't yet found a death for the first wife, if he did marry twice, but surname variations don't help!  Obviously the marriage certificate to Ethel should show if he was a widower at the time

It would be worth buying some credits to look at the 1911 census, from the free index I can see Anthoney with Jane, the image should show how long married, how many children born & died, etc.  It's an unusual name, and he would have been about 50 when he married Ethel, so he may have had other children

I can see a Jane & Joseph Iveson in the 1901 census, and some of their children, or at least some with the same forenames appear with Anthony & Jane in the 1911 index.

Will wait to hear if you already knew any of this, and will look for further census details tomorrow
