Gosh, that would be a shock for you, any more information ,special circumstances ? Do you think he took his own life or was it an accident? Not so shocking but I recall looking up my mother`s sister and her birth and death were together/ Blanche, born 1894,died 1910, A lovely girl of 16 dying at home on the settee where she slept ,to be warm. My mother aged 14 present as Blanche coughed up her life`s blood. My mother had eaten raw liver sandwiches so that Blance would--that was standard treatment in those days to try to build the patient up a bit. Blance used to cry at the thought of the raw liver so mum used to try to coax her by eating some herself. that horrified my sister and I. Let us know if you find out more and don`t mind sharing it. Cheerio. Viktoria.

Who is Norman Carne & why do we have his photo?

That must've been an awful shock but I know what you mean about wondering why people died young. Have you tried the Times Archive? I found reports of a couple of provincial incidents on there.

Poor man and heartbreaking for the family. It's a good job he didn't fail as suicide was against the law; there would have been a trial, and if he were found guilty of attempted suicide he'd have been hanged.

Do you know what part of his body was paralysed? It could have been from Polio, a back injury which could affect legs, an injury to neck which would affect arms. There could have been a stroke with poor recovery. Lots of possibilities. You`ve started something Colin, best of luck. Viktoria.

What a shock, Colin! You never know what you will turn up, do you?
Good luck with looking for medical/hospital records. A lot of those have not survived, unfortunately, so I hope you strike lucky.
I wanted to know why a gggrandfather died relatively young, so got his death certificate. It gave the cause of death as "disease of the brain". This really stopped me in my tracks - he was a waterman in the East End of London, so pretty poor, and seems to have died at home. I doubt that there would have been medical or hospital records for him, certainly hard to find surviving ones. I hope you have better luck!

Oh dear!!
You really have had some tragedies in your family. That is another very sad story - how awful for your father, to have his wedding day marred by his father's suicide!
