st Philips, birmingham
« on: Friday 06 November 09 20:04 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone have access to the parish records for St Philips, Birmingham.  I am trying to find out more about the marriage of James Williams and Eliza Sketchley - according to `Familysearch` it took place on 22/4/1813 there.

Any assistance would be much appreciated

Thanks very much Brummygirl.

I don`t have any experience of looking at Parish Records - I was hoping it might name their fathers but obviously not.  Is that always the case?

Best wishes

Hi Jane

Before 1837 fathers were not normally named, you usually just get witnesses  "of this or that parish"

after 1837 it is pretty much the same as ours are now
