« on: Friday 06 November 09 20:37 UTC (UK) »

I have finally found out my grandmother's mum's name and what i think is the correct birth for her (its the only one in Salford)

Elizabeth Ellen Lockett, born 1902.  Any help will be much appreciated, i am completely stuck with this side of the family!

Goto:

http://www.1911census.co.uk/

and put " Lockett" in the surname box  and  "WELLINGTON STREET SALFORD" in the place of residence. They are all yours.

http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/

will also help.

Thanks  Cheesy

Easy to make a spelling mistake on a name like that, they are very close spelling to each other and sound very similar too. What do you have on the two names? Unlike Rootschat, other people and records offices don't have spell check  Grin

Yes, they also look very similar in print aswell if you don't look closely  Smiley

I was told that in 1881 Emily was living with her parents Thomas C Horner and Martha Horner, but then i was also told the marriage of William and Emily had Emily as Homer so at the minute i'm not sure which one is correct  Huh

Emily and William had 8 children, however on the 1911 census that i was  kindly sent i am told it says (by William) that they had 10 children and 2 did not survive.  I did find a child born in Salford in 1911 to Lockett and Homer on FreeBMD so i think she must be child 11?  It's all very confusing  Roll Eyes

I have no idea who the two 'missing' children are.  I do know one of their living children in 1911 dies age 14, 1918 according to freebmd  Sad

Firstly i think you will have to dig into your pocket and buy one or two certificates to be 100% sure on the details of the family.
Secondly, free bmd  is only a transcribe and you can not view the birth of that page. So it can not be proved that it is Homer and not Horner.
A******y show the page with all births on for that quarter but it is poor a quality and smudged, i think it is Horner.
On the 1911 you say there are two children missing? They could be still births and you would not register them as a birth but might say when the census was taken that you had two children died at birth?
