1901 lookups please

Hello, I am looking for a Dorothy Davis/Davies on the 1901 census in Cardiff. She was born in 1893 so will have been abt 8 years old.

I guess there may be a few Davies surname returns, the right household will have a Kate as the mother (dorothy was adopted into this family so may be shown as niece rather than daughter) and possibly a Winnie (Winifred) as Kate's daughter.

have you found this family on any other census?
How old would Kate the mother be ? any idea where she was born there are pages of Kate Davies.
I have looked for Dorothy davies and davis aged 7-10 yrs don't see her.
More info on family would be helpful

Thanks for trying Cardiff, I don't have much more info sadly :-(

This a branch of the family tree that is proving to be elusive.  Presumably because of the 'adoption'.

All I know is that Dorothy Harcourt was born to Elizabeth Jane Harry & David Harcourt (he was in the merchant navy). Nothing is known of them - no wedding, no dates of birth etc. All that is known is that Dorothy (who later added Grace to her name - Dorothy Grace) was brought up by Kate Davis and had a step-sister Winnie. They are said to have lived in St Mellons.

The problem is this is all oral tradition from the family. so some details may have got muddled.

I have her birth certificate so know that Elizabeth and david are true, but she wasn't brought up by them.
