yes, it's on Castle avenue, just near Clontarf Castle- it's a very old cemetery, I presume it hasn't been used for many years. I don't know if it's Catholic.

Leprechaun,
Castle Avenue burial ground dates from the mid 1700s has been closed for many years except to those with prior rights. There were sections for both C of I and Roman Catholic burials.

Hello Quaxer Interesting thankyou. Would there be any other graveyards in Clontarf that you may know of. The lady in Question died in 1913 she was born in Mayo but died in Dublin. So I would doubt her family would have prior rights. Thankyou for your interest and reply.

there's a graveyard in Killester nearby, but the same conditions would apply.
The most likely graveyard is Glasnevin, which has a website - it's pay to see the details, but you can get quite a bit of info from the free search
http://www.glasnevintrust.ie/genealogy/
if you know her address at death, you can try an advanced search, which allows you to include address contains .... I found this option great (especially as I've Patrick Murphy and Mary Byrne!!)

Hi eadaoin Would this still apply to someone who died in Philipsburgh Ave, Fairview? I've looked but can't find my g/grandfather Francis Townsend who died in 1907 Not sure if he was buried Catholic or Church of Ireland. Death was registered in Coolock, North Dublin Sylvia

Just back from Clontarf and sorry to say i could not locate any burials for Townsend or Loftus. I also attented the exhibition in the parish hall of Saint John the Baptist. There where stalls from the local genealogy and historical societys of Clontarf and Raheny. Plenty of old photographs of the area. I was allowed to take this photograph of the burials in Saint John the Baptist Graveyard on Castle Avenue. I saved the photograph and i'm sorry to say that i can't zoom in to make out the names. Sorry to all who may be interested in this.
