I hope you don't mind, more of Roberts verses.

My father told me his grandfather was not particularly religious but he mentions God quite a bit at this time.

Again exactly as he wrote them.

Reading these and the others shows that your Grandfather although witnessing the horrors of the trenches was able to shine a beacon of humanity,that war couldn't diminish the human spirit.
"Ye heavy laden come,is his request
Ye weary come and I will give you rest",would be a fitting epitaph for any soldier.
