 In my tree, I have a William Withernwick and wife Elizabeth (although I do not have the cert's to prove it.. I believe her maiden name was Scott). I have the boat record where they left Hull E Yorks in Sept of 1854 .. docking at N.Y  on Nov 12th.
This William Withernwick .. was I believe baptised at Lund E Yorkshire 23 Dec 1807 .. and I think wife Elizabeth was born at Ellerker E Yorks in 1809 .. to parents William Scott and Mary Twiddle (these parents are found in the 1841 & 51 census at Cottingham E Yorks .. and the Withernwicks also at Cottingham in 51)
They both farmed in Caradoc Township, Middlesex County .. Ontario, Canada. William passing on in 1877 & wife Elizth in 1890 .. leaving no children.
  I am trying to find for sure, their marriage, back in England. Someone already found a possible marriage for a Wm Withernwick and an Elizth Scott at YORK in Sept 1850 ... only now, I am not sure what records they obtained this from. Although it does seem to be a bit far away for two people of more the Hull area to get married at .. but I do not have a better possiblity. Can any body help .. find their marriage record.

William Stephenson - born 1814 at Doncaster West Yorkshire - married Mary Scott at Cottingham East Yorkshire (Hull) in 1838. Williams parents I believe were another Wm Stephenson and an Alice Carter - married Cantley Parish W Yorks (Doncaster) in 1811..... Other east riding names are Nicholls (Bridlington, Yorks and Wigan Lancs.) and the surname Withernwick.

Have you found them in the 1851 census?  Hull may just be the port they sailed from rather than where they were living.

The parish record section on Ancestry has the marriage of William Withernwick & Elizabeth Scott .
date of marriage 23 September 1850  Micklegate Holy Trinity, and William is aged 41 and Elizabeth aged 40

 I guess I will have to give in, and say that this York marriage is likely them. First of all .. Withernwick is not a common name ... so how many records of a Wm Withernwick marrying an Elizth Scott in Yorkshire .. could their be Smiley
Ancestry has New York Port records 1820 - 1957 .. and there are only 2 Withernwicks .. recorded in all this time period. This boat was called the 'Ross' and docked Nov 12th 1854 .. with both my Withernwicks listed as being age: 44.
In a small country Cemetery in Caradoc Township , Middlesex County Ont Canada .. there is a lone stone for William Withernwick .. died Mar 12 1877... age: 69 ys 2 ms & 25 ds. The bottom stating 'Imigrated from Yorkshire'
