Topic: Baptism lookup - Maria JEFFORD from Pennington/Lyminton (or possibly Milford) (Read 132 times)

This lady says on census returns that she was born in 1829 in Pennington (though once she says Milford). I have looked on the LDS site but come up a blank for her.
She married a Gilbert Buckle in 1853 who was the blacksmith in Boldre. They went to live in Lambeth in London sometime after 1881. Gilbert died shortly after their move in 1885. Maria stayed living in Lambeth as a laundress and is still there in 1911 aged 82!
But I have no idea about her parents and its a bit of a brick wall for me. I do seem to struggle with the IGI records for Boldre records and Lymington. They don't seem that complete.
Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give.

edit to add - I will get her marriage cert out to see who her father is. But still at baptism record would be fantastic for mother's name too!

There is a possible on the IGI;
Maria JEFFORDS
15 June 1827, Milford, Hampshire, England
Parents;
CHARLES and SARAH
On same batch is;
Jemima JAFFORD, 16 January 1825, same parents
Although I have been unable to find any of them on 1841 Census 
Marriage Cert is the way to go first unless someone has access to Parish Records

I was just mucking around looking for Jefford BMDs and found this death;
Sarah JEFFORD
March 1879
Lymington 2b 422
Aged 81
Tracked her only on 1861 census and she is married to a Charles.
I cant find them 1841 ( when possibly Maria could still be at home) or 1851 though.

Wow - thanks all. I think the Maria Jeffords of Milford sounds very promising. I don't know why my search didn't bring her up - I must have done something wrong.. 
I've looked at the other Buckle - not my branch of the Buckles as mine are definitely from Boldre. But I would suspect they are related going way back as its an unusual sirname and they live relatively close. I will PM the other member to see if we can come up with links.
I am going to get out Maria Jefford's marriage certificate to Gilbert and see if the father corresponds to the IGI return found. But its is I really think. I see also Sarah the mother is a laundress. Maria ends up living in London.... as a Laundress (and was the same before she left when she was living in Boldre).
I will put a completed on this query one I get the marriage certificate through and can confirm father's name.

I can see 2 John BUCKLES in Boldre
John son of John & Sarah born May 1800, baptised 8 June 1800 Hordle (the eldest brother of bcalgirl's Mary Anne)
John son of James & Jane, born September 1816 - he would have been 16 when Gilbert was born.
