Here is Thomas in 1901.

89 Ramsay? Street, Stanley, Durham

Thomas Oxley Head 25 Coal Miner   born West Stanley, Durham
Hannah Bell Oxley Wife 23    born Whitlehead? Durham
Charlton Oxley Son 5    born South Moor, Durham
Mary or Marg Elizabeth Oxley Dau 3 born South Moor, Durham
Lilly Watson Oxley Dau 2 months    born West Stanley, Durham

Possible marriage

1895 Lanchester Durham

Thomas Oxley also on same page Hannah Bell Strong

With regard to William Watson Oxley, as you say his death was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sept quarter, but I have not been able as yet to find him on the 1901 census. As far as I am aware the census was taken on the 31st March/1st April 1901, so in theory he should be recorded somewhere. I will keep looking.

Many thanks.
Thank goodness for the use of family names.
I had a quick check to see if I could find any mining disasters around the time William died.
I am assuming that he too went down the mines.

You are more than welcome. I am afraid that I have not had any luck locating William in 1901. Will keep trying, but am running out of ideas of possible combinations of his name to try in case he is listed under a mistranscription.

Thanks for trying. There were 2 other Williams listed around the same birth yrs as Wm. W.
Only a guess that his middle name being Watson he was the one. Interesting that he was probably boarding, unless he was at another mine.
