William DYER

I am trying to trace William Dyer born about 1830 in Plymouth.  He first surfaces in Tredegar, South Wales when he marries Dinah Jones (nee Morris) on 2 December 1871.  His father, also William, was deceased by the time of the marriage but was a tailor.  I have been unable to find William anywhere prior to 1871 and would be grateful for any help.

Thank you for that - however I don't think its the same man as he was born in Plymouth not Hampshire.

You say you found william dyer married to Dinah
1881 census I see a william dyer married to dinah living Bedwelty and gives william born Monmouth do I have the wrong one again?

Hi,

no you have the right William in 1881, however in 1891 and 1901 the census returns say he was born in Plymouth. I've plumped for two out of three being right. Cheesy
