Hello Judy
There are three generations of the HARDING family between the dates you specify.
Firstly, Thomas HARDING married Hannah RAY on 6 April 1761 at Whaddon parish church. They baptise a son Thomas at Whaddon parish church on 2 Sep 1764 then the births of their next three children are recorded in the Quaker Digests held at Bedfordshire and Luton Archives (Ref: FR2/10/5/44):
1 Sep 1766 Elizabeth dau of Thomas and Hannah HARDIN of Nash 30 Apr 1768 George son of Thomas and Hannah HARDING of Nash 4 Nov 1769 Joseph son of Thomas and Hannah HARDAM
Thomas the elder died on 23 March 1810. aged 72. He is described in the Quaker Digest (Ref: FR2/10/5/46) as a labourer of Nash in the parish of Whaddon and was buried at the Quaker Burial Ground at Hogsty End on 1 Apr 1810. Thomas left a will which is held at the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies (Ref: D/A/WF111/96). Hannah, his wife, died on 7 Feb 1820, a widow, aged 83 of Hogsty End. She was buried on 11 Feb 1820 at the Quaker Burial Ground at Hogsty End. Hogsty End is in the parish of Wavendon, Bucks.
The younger Thomas married Ann (marriage not found) and they settled at Chesham where Thomas was a miller and corn chandler. They had 10 children born between March 1772 and May 1800. Ann, the wife of Thomas died on 22 Jun 1810 aged 56 and was buried at Chesham on 28 Jun 1810. Thomas then married Sarah KNIGHT, the daughter of Joseph and Hannah KNIGHT of Felstead, Essex, on 8 Jul 1813. Thomas died on 24 Jan 1846 aged 81 years and was buried at the Quaker Burial Ground at Chesham on 29 Jan 1846. Sarah died on 4 Feb 1852 aged 83 years and was buried at the Quaker Burial Ground at Chesham on 8 Feb 1852.
One of Thomas and Ann's children was named Thomas and he was born on 5 Nov 1795 at Chesham. I don't have a marriage for him but I can say that he died on 8 Sep 1843 aged about 48 years. He was buried at the Quaker Burial Ground at Chesham on 12 Sep 1843. The burial note (Ref: NQ2/7/3 at Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies, Aylesbury) states that he was not in membership.
I can provide further details of siblings should you wish.

Orpheus....
Thank you so very much! I knew Thomas died 8 Sep 1843 in Chesham and I have his two marriages and children, etc., but you have just supplied me with two more generations of Thomas Hardings!
I hope it is not an imposition to ask if you could provide the details of Thomas and Ann's other children...the siblings of my Thomas??? I have been chasing so many Hardings for so many years, that it would be interesting to know if any of them were related to my Thomas. I went to Chesham in 2001 but I had no idea Thomas was a Quaker (or maybe not, if he was not in membership at the time of his death) until just recently.
Also can I assume that the church records do not go back any further than what you provided?
Thank you, thank you.....

I think we will have to assume that the first Thomas Harding you cited in the Quaker records is probably not related to the second one you cited because of age problems. If Thomas Harding (#2) had children starting at 1772, he would have been born before 1764.
I believe the last two Hardings are indeed mine and I am still very excited that I know much more than I knew previously. I am still very much interested in the siblings of my 3rd great grandfather.

Hello Judy
I do see your point! However, I have no doubt that they are all connected as I've just realised that I've made an error with the dates of the children of Thomas #2. These actually commence in September 1784 and there are only nine children. I was including the child Ann born on 29 Mar 1772 to Thomas and Ann HARDING who is probably a child of Thomas and Hannah HARDING. I will list all the entries I found so that you can work them out for yourself:

Orpheus...
I think you are correct that the child born in 1772 must have been to Thomas and Hannah; this makes more sense now.
You have been more than generous with your time and I could not be more pleased to have received such wonderful bunches of new information on my family. I see that you made a reference note to a will of Thomas #1, which is held at the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies. Do you have any idea what the best approach is to obtaining a copy of this will? I reside in the US.
Thank you again so very much! Judy MC
