Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hi,
I'm struggling to find any reference to George Norbury on the records lists on Ancestry.co.uk
I am assuming he served at this time due to his age and also because there is a 5 year gap in the birth of his children - one born 1915 and the next 1920.
I have found a number of George Norbury's on the medal list but due to the info on there i don't know if any of these are the George i am looking for.
George was from Salford, Lancashire and born 1886c
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

It could be a red herring, as George Norbury could have served in the Royal or Merchant Navies, but there are 13 medal index cards for men called George Norbury who served in the Army. The National Archives documents online will let you see their list free, but it will cost £2 to see the medal entitlement. That will not show anything about family or home, unless you are very lucky. Ancestry also have the MICs online by subscription so you could do some elimination work, using the army number/regiment to work through possible records held by A...y A

There is a discharge record an A*y for a George Norbury living at 16 Sagem(?) Street Off Silk Street Salford.
He was married to Elizabeth.
He was in the 15th Lancs Fusiliersand posted for duty 19/9/1914 so he must be have been in the army pre war.

Not sure about 1918 although i do know from family stories that they lived in or around the Silk street and Camp street area of salford

Laura,
The one Spof found married Elizabeth Cooney on 7th Jan 1905. It's hard to read, but children include William, George, Henry(?), James, possible two or three more, then John in December 1919.

Wow, thanks for that list!!
Just had a look and the address doesn't tie in with George and his immediate family, but i wouldn't be suprised if he was a relative.
Thank you so much,
Laura
