I have my granda's pocket watch and chain,he has scratched his name on the inside. He was born in 1900 and when I checked the hallmark it was for 1902 so unless he bought it second hand I think it may have been his father's watch and maybe kept for him after his father died in 1904.It has seen better days and is beyond repair but has been in their hands.

When I was about 4, living in Wales, my mother's best friend "Aunty" Betty gave me a christmas tree angel, actually a ballerina.
My family emigrated when I was 5, and we eventually lost touch with Aunty Betty. After approx 36 years, I have found her and re-established contact (received a card yesterday). This reminded me of the angel, which I still have, even though it is missing a leg and half of one arm.
Another treasure is actually a memory. Aunty Betty told me at 3 1/2 that it is "A woman's prerogative to change her mind". Funny how some things you never forget.

I've just remembered that I have some Victorian (?) glass Christmas tree baubles ... when I was a child, there were about 20 of them; now I think I'm down to about 6 or 8 ...  Sad  ... but they have been in the family for so long, that they are precious ... they even travelled out to Africa with me, and back again ... if only they could talk !
