Mary Ann appears on the 71 & 81 with hubby William Jones and children, William dies not sure when, I see her again on the 91 and 1901 with new hubby, Mary Ann at 39 years remarried in 1889 to John Hollies on this cert her father is Thomas Palmer, on the 1911 states she had 10 children 3 survived.. and that's all I know.

The 1871 has 7 entries for a William Jones with a wife Mary Ann in Staffs so I need you to post the FULL 1871 entry to make sure I have the right one

Got a problem here - the 1891 entry for John Hollies shows Mary (not Mary Ann) as aged 40 so b 1851 Dudley. There is an 8yr old dtr Elizabeth Jones b Dudley shown as "wife's daughter"
Whilst not conclusive - quite often that term can mean that it was an illegitimate child of the wife. In a re-marriage, it is more usual to refer to them as step daughter or sometimes just daughter
The 1889 marriage to John Hollies was at Dudley St Luke - do you have a copy of the cert confirming Mary Ann was a widow at that time and her father was surname Palmer

Yes I have the cert, Mary Ann's other daug married a Hollies too, family have confirmed the marriage because mother and daughter married brothers...

I can see an 1851 entry for a Mary Ann Palmer b Dudley 1848. Mother Sarah is a widow aged 24 with an older dtr Ellen aged 5

1881 shows Mary b Netherton 1845 whereas 1871 shows Dudley 1848 and 1891 show Dudley 1851 (suspect she knocked a few years off her age as John Hollies was quite a few yrs younger than her)
There are only 3 possible explanations for not being able to find a marriage between Mary Ann Palmer and William Jones
They never married
They married but the GRO page containing the entry is indecipherable hence no transcription - likeliest explanation
Mary married previously so married Jones under a different surname - however, given that she was only born in 1847 and was Jones by 1871 with a 3yr old son - it would have had to have been a really quick marriage and re-marriage so unlikely.

I see a couple of possible birth certs for her.. appears her parents are Thomas Palmer and Sarah Cash..
shame about the marriage cert, is there anywhere I could have a look at the GRO pages, I maybe able to see something..

The full GRO index can be searched at your nearest main library. It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry or FMP (FindMyPast.com) subscription
Ancestry have withdrawn the full index and replaced it with a very time consuming procedure so if you want to search online - I would recommend FMP

I have a sub to Ancestry but only see marriages 'transcibed freebmd' which I'd imagine is exactly the same as freebmd.
