Thomas Samuel Taylor
« on: Monday 09 November 09 01:15 UTC (UK) »

Hi

Looking for information on Thomas Samuel Taylor, he was born about 1841, we think in England.  He came to NZ, unknown when.  He married Fanny Page in 1876 in New Zealand and they had 4 children.

From what i can find so far, i think he and his wife were buried in Geraldine Cemetery (info from Timaru District Council) not yet proven.  We are looking at getting a copy of the marraige cert/document for other details.

Any help or family out there please contact me.  Thanks

Hi Rotosis

I guess that you have already seen the photo of the memorial to Thomas Samuel and Fanny TAYLOR, on the Timaru cemeteries website ?

http://www.timaru.govt.nz/

PapersPast has just one mention of Thomas Samuel TAYLOR - in relation to "lease of land at Geraldine".
"Star" - 4 September 1891 - "Latest Locals"
There may of course though, be other mentions of him under Thomas TAYLOR ?

Yes, always a good idea to obtain documentary evidence.  Smiley

However, just thought I should point out, that a New Zealand marriage record of c. 1876, carries only very basic information ... and does NOT include the birthplaces of the bride and groom - nor the names of their parents.
[Further details on what is included in NZ BDM records, can be found in the Resources section of this board - see "BDM Info." :    A "printout" (rather than certificate) is also the recommended purchase for family history purposes - in that it gives additional information.]

Perhaps in this case then, the death record for Thomas Samuel TAYLOR would be worth getting ?
