Hello,
This may not be an approiate question for rootschat so apologies if that is the case I am thinking of joining the NZSG. Can anybody tell me about their experience as member, and do fellow chatters consider it worth joining?
Regards
Leandra

Hi There,
I would like to say I am a member of NZSG and yes I think it is worthwhile to join.
I have had quite a bit of help from them and other NZSG branches throughout New Zealand.
Would be interesting to see what others think as well

Riley
Can you clarify your comment "cheaper UK BDM Certifdicates" please?
I don't understand how any society can offer them cheaper than the GRO's 7 GBP (postage paid)?

HI I would never not me a member of NZSG as much to show support and be involved witht he ongoing resource creation
Many Rc's forget that a lot of the info they get is from NZSG sources..so it is constantly giving people leads..although by copyright we sometimes give too much away..so by being a member at least a genealogist is gving a little back...and who knows you may become hooked into helping with the many projects such as shipping indexes and electoral rolls (eg 1911 transcription underway)
So many invaluable collections such as first families and the certificate collection that will save you money (sub) in the long run
Plus any book that is in the library etc (if you can't visit Panmure) the research service for free can look up for you and follow up on any references given in the index CD's/burial locator etc. and the magazine...so you lly get great value for your $$
Phew!!! as you can see a devoted member Althea NZSG 18951

For those the knew Karen Kalopulu ans saw her many articles in the NZSG magazines. Karen died on Sunday just gone. Her funeral service is being held today, followed by burial at Waikumete Cemetery.
Karen was a great helper at the Auckland City Library and helped me a lot when I was there with my research.
Karen you will be greatly missed
