Liverpool Workhouse Registers -HANNAH WOODS
« on: Thursday 10 March 05 23:26 UTC (UK) »

I would be grateful for any information about Hannah Woods, maiden name McNulty, who died in Liverpool Workhouse on 30/7/1901. I would like to know when she was admitted into the workhouse, if she had been in there on previous occasions and if any of her children were there with her.

Thank You

Hi Bill
Welcome to rootschat and good luck with your search.
Do you know how old Hannah was or have you got her on any of the cencusus that say where she was born Smiley

Hello Joe,

Thank you for your response to my information request.

Hannah Woods was 39 years old when she died in 1901. I have her death certificate. The 1901 census, ref RG13/3498, shows the same home address as that on the death certificate. Her place of birth is given as Liverpool and her age as 39.

According to the 1891 census, ref RG12/2986, she was 29 years old. Her birth place is given as Ireland.  No county or town is mentioned. I believe this is the correct birthplace and that the birthplace on the 1901 census is wrong.

I have a certificate of her marriage to Thomas Woods on 8th September 1881. I assume that the person in the censuses is the same.

I am trying to find more information about her time in Liverpool workhouse, and about what happened to her children.

Regards

Hello,

You have probably seen this but this link http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/Liverpool/Liverpool.shtml provides information (at the bottom of the page) where the existing records can be found/consulted.

Good luck
