centre of kentish studies lookup
« on: Friday 11 March 05 13:24 GMT (UK) »

If any rootschat menbers were planing to visit the Centre for Kentish studies, I was wondering if they could save me the long trip down to kent. I am looking for the marriage of John Fulljames and Elizabeth Fremlin 24.6.1817. She was from Ryarsh and he was from Wrotham. The records are also in the SOG.

If anyone could help me or suggest a online source I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks,

Pete

Will be going on Tuesday.   Won't have a lot of spare time but will try obvious registers for you.

Checked Ryarsh & Wrothan Parish registers with no luck.   Have Ightham here at home and they are not there.   Sorry didn't have time to check others.

Hi Wilma,

Thanks for your help. Looks like that trip to Kent is in order. I won't rest until I have found him.

Thanks again,

Pete

Hi Peter

Are you still looking for this marriage?  If so, may I ask where the wedding date came from ie. does it not say where the marriage took place?

Best wishes

Dear Casalguidi,

I am still struggling to find it. It came from the work of David Fremlin on the Fremlin family tree. Much of the original work was done by his grandfather and David does not know where the original date came from. The tree is pretty accurate as all other dates I have checked work out, so I am fairly confident the date is correct. I have now looked at over 10 parishes in the area and have still yet to find it. The one place I have yet to look are the marriage bonds and allegations for Rochester and Canterbury dioceses, as it is likely they got married out of their home parishes.

Unless I can find a kind soul to help me this will have to wait until I get to Kent again.

Best wishes,

Pete

Hi Casalguidi,

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I guess I will try Rochester licences and then I give up. I am holiday next week so I might try to find time to get down to Kent, if my wife will let me off painting the house.

Thanks again,

Pete
