Hello,
My gt-gt-grandfather, Richard Simmonds, was found hiding under a bed in the Dun Cow Inn, Duke Street, Wellington in July 1854. He was hoicked out by a constable and, although he had not actually done anything wrong he was tried and convicted and given three months with hard labour for "intent to commit a felony"! Poor Richard!!
His second wife remarried as a widow in 1857 and I am trying to find out what happened to him between July 1854 and June 1857. I assume he died, unless his wife was telling porkies when she remarried.
Has anyone any answers to this please, as it is driving me mad.
