I've put a link to this on the armed forces board so hopefully someone over there will be able to help. In the meantime it looks like Royal Army Service Corps.Regt. no. & King's Reg's. but I could be wrong. jim

sorry Phil just a quick question, can you actually order, or ask for the Medals to be re-issued to family?

I was very interested in the exchange of messages concerning 1743 K.R 1912 and these have helped me to understand the remarks on a medal card. I am trying to track down my grandfather's WW1 record. He was a driver in the RFA or RHA. I have narrowed the list of possible people to two with regimental numbers 207636 and 675233. His name was Alfred Burgess. Does anyone know how I can now proceed to find his Brigade ID or is there nothing else I can do. I can't find service records for either of these men. Ken

Ken,
Alfred Burgess, Driver 675233 was a Territorial. He didn't go overseas before early 1917.
The service number is one of the batch allotted to 1/1 (275 Brigade) and 2/1 (285 Brigade) West Lancs RFA. I would tend towards 285 Bde, on the basis that they didn't go overseas until early 1917 anyway, but there's no guarantee.
1st West Lancs Brigade was based at Windsor Barracks, Spekeland St, Liverpool.
Driver 207636 is going to be harder , if not impossible to track down without a service record. The nearest record I can find is of Charles Oxford, 607640, who attested late January 1917 in Wimbledon.
Phil

Thanks Phil
My grandfather was born in Liverpool in april 1897. Family legend has it that he lied about his age to join up so the TF reference would appear not to be my grandfather as the date for going overseas doesn't seem right. It is interesting that the brigade headquarters was in Liverpool where he was born though.
Many thanks once again Ken
