Just got back from hols, hence the delay in replying. This thread is mushrooming!
So... LindaJae has confirmed the William Bright that I had found, was the son of Frank and Elizabeth. Heres Frank (Francis) and family in 1841 (minus William of course who wasn't born until c1845)
HO107/448-10 Folio 34B Priory Yard St Ives Francis Bright 35 ag lab Elizabeth Bright 36 Mary Bright 17 Phoebe Bright 10 Ann Bright 7 Elizabeth Bright 6 Frances Bright (female) 3 John Bright 1 All born in Hunts
A yard was probably just an enclosed area behind/off/to the side of a street.
Rebecca Prime's birthplace was in Herts, for which I have just the 1851 census, and the result is interesting: HO107/1707 folio 409A High St Barley Mary Prime wife marr 34 born Needingworth Hunts John Prime son 16 ag lab b Barley Rebecca Prime dau 7 scholar b Barley Fanny Prime dau 6 scholar b Barley Mary Ann Prime dau 2 b Barley Susan Whitmore lodger unm 36 dressmaker b Barley
No sign of a husband, and the only other Primes in Barley were: folio 413A High St Barley Mary Prime head widow 72 annuitant b Hadenham Cambs Abram Prime son marr 33 annuitant b Barley Susanna Prime dau 59 b Barley
In 1861 there is an Abram Prime 43 b Barley with wife Susan 65 b Barley living in Cambridge so we still don't know who Mary Prime's husband was in 1851 and whether or not he was alive and working elsewhere or whether she should have been described as a widow.
In 1861 Fanny Prime 16 b Barley was a nursemaid in St Ives.
Problem solved! Found them in 1861 enumerated as Pryme but indexed as Pryne.
RG9/980 folio 38B The Lion and Lamb, High St, Holywell cum Needingworth James Pryme head marr 50 farmer labourer and butcher b Barley Mary Pryme wife 42 b Needingworth Rebecca Pryme dau 16 dressmaker b Needingworth Mary Ann Pryme dau 10 scholar b Needingworth Stephen Butcher lodger unm 50 whitesmith b Needingworth
Living in the next house was Fen Lane Abram Pryme head marr 23 ag lab b Needingworth Mary Pryme wife 26 b Needingworth Hannah Pryme dau 10 scholar b Needingworth William Pryme son 9mths b Needingworth
In 1871 RG10/1522 folio 7 High St, Holywell cum Needingworth James Pryme head marr 62 annuitant b Barley Mary Pryme wife 53 b Needingworth Frederick Pryme grandson 5 scholar b Somersham Hunts Stephen Butcher lodger unm 40 blacksmith b Needingworth
It's possible that the 72 year old Mary in Barley in 1851 might have been James Pryme's mother, and Abram 33 his brother.
OK, lunch! I'll check out George Bentley's siblings this afternoon.
Regards
David

Isaac Bentley b c1835 - details of 1861 census on posting of 29 June. Benjamin Bentley b c1839 - there is a death on FreeBMD in St Ives registration district in Sept 1855 which might be him. I can't see any marriages in Hunts and I can't find him in any census subsequent to 1855. Rebecca Bentley - deaths on FreeBMD in St Ives reg district in Dec 1850 and Sept 1851 either of which might be her. I cant see a marriage which would fit. Hannah Bentley - there is a marriage on FreeBMD in St Ives reg district in March quarter 1854 between William Abbs and Hannah Mary Bentley ref St Ives 3b 411. The 1861 has the following entry Hatton Rd Barham, Longstanton William Abbs head marr 29 ag lab Born Cambs All Saints Hannah Mary Abbs wife 33 b Old Hurst Margrett Abbs dau 7 b All Saints Cambs Eliza All'? Abbs dau 4 b All Saints Cambs Pricelda Ann Abbs dau 2 b All Saints Cambs
Let me know if you need any later censuses checked for Isaac or Hannah.

David

Hi,
Thank you both, for replying to me. The information that you both have given me, will definitely help me fill some gaps about our Bright and Bentley side of the family.
We are still researching these surnames and therefore, we would love to hear from any one with information about them.
Thank you.

In the Prime/Pryme Census (my family mentioned here on this page along with my Bright family). I noticed some of the Primes/Prymes were "anniutant's". Does anyone know where I would look to find out where it was coming from, what it is, etc?

The Census 1851 Re: Francis Bright When researching the 1851 Census, they had me mixed up when they said James was "f" (father) of Francis and living with Francis. It stopped my search until I learned he is the Grandfather not father. I just found a gold mine of research for William Bright's father, spouses, children, etc going back into the 1600's. Many branches. I never thought to search FRANK!!!! I searched Frank Bright at www.familysearch.org and there he was and all his family way back. So if you are looking for the rest of his family (even the Bentley's would be interested). Go to www.familysearch.org and enter: Frank Bright and pick the one that is b. 1806 Needingworth Huntingdon and get ready for the huge amount of info!! PS: Just for the info Francis "Frank" Brights father is: John Bright b. 1778 Lindajae

Just bear in mind that this is a tree on Ancestral File put together by another researcher, and the entries are not extractions from parish registers. So these trees are only as reliable as the researcher and I know from bitter experience that they are not always accurate (in fact some are simply wrong!)
Ideally you need to use them as just a guide and check them against the parish register.
Definition Of Terms Used On Census Returns
Annuitant ~ The term annuitant could describe someone on an annual allowance as well as someone receiving annual income from an investment. Often however, it was also used for institutionalized pensioners.

It does look pretty well researched, and was done in Canada, not Utah, which is always encouraging!

This message is for Bedfordshire Boy - David: I know it's prob too late for this question but in your message #3 in this string you said:
But... since I've been here I've discovered a long lost ggg grandmother's marriage so I've finally found her maiden name - Bright, from Somersham! I waiting for a couple of look ups from Huntingdon Record Office as the parish register has not been filmed by the LDS or transcribed. We may have a connection. Regards David
Did you find or keep this information of a long lost ggg grandmother with the maiden name of Bright from Somersham?

David: Thank you so much for your response. I am sorry to say the dates are not matching with my William Bright mentioned in this string. Nor are my Bright's from Caxton.
BUT... I'm keeping the info because some of the spouses last names look familiar. And maybe there is a connection somewhere.
You sure are a great source of genealogy knowledge. You are certainly able to provide awesome information that has been searched for years. All the other info in this string you provided helped me out greatly. Thank you for contributing your time helping us find our way home....

I just thought I would throw my two cents into the ring and see what happens. I am a Leeden that traces back to the Leeding's. We connect to the Bentley's thus.
Thomas Leeding m.Ann Southwell in 19/19/1742 Yaxley. They had 8 children.
Their youngest,Samuel Leeding m.Sarah Clay 19/7/1784 Holywell. They had 7 children who's last names changed to Leeden.
The youngest was also named Samuel Leeden who m.Sarah Bass 18/12/1810 Oldhurst. This is where the connection comes in. Their children were in order:
Elizabeth 14/11/1813 Oldhurst Mary Ann 18/1/1816 Oldhurst Phoebe 29/6/1819 Oldhurst Sally 29/7/1821 Warboys Charlotte 4/5/1913 Oldhurst William 5/9/1829 Warboys
Charlotte Leeden m.George Bentley (bn.6/4/1825)
Charlotte and George had 5 children: Mary Elizabeth Bentley m.William Bright George Bentley m.Mary Bird Benjamin Leeden Bentley m.Elizabeth Jane Burton Rebecca Bentley m.Joseph Caddy Julia Bentley m.John Caddy
The only child that our tree continues on it that of Benjamin. Benjamin had three kids: George Edward Bentley m.Agnes Kate Weeks Gabriel Bentley Benjamin Bentley
This is where it gets interesting. For some reason George and Agnes's kids took the Leeden last name.
I will have to read back over past posts to see where everything fits in but it looks like we may have some interesting cross over here.
