hi there, am trying to trace info on the cook family of devonport.
henry cook married elizabeth dann in 1872 , they had a few children one namely beatrice (my gran) and a sister mabel who married a james mitchell or michell poss around 1910  and at some point moved to ireland , if any one can help i would be very grateful

Hi Krissy

Can you be a bit more specific with names/dates of birth for children perhaps?  Any info from the 1872 marriage certificate?  Any later address - anything at all?  COOKs a pretty common name!

There is this family in 1891 - are they the ones?

sorry wasnt expecting such a quick response, yes the ones you have are the correct family i just dont have any other info on mabel other than she must have been born just after the census. i will see if i can get some more info

If that is the correct family, do you want look ups in 1901 1881 and, perhaps, 1871 also or do you have these - not quite sure what information you are after  Smiley

yes please, to be honest i have no info im working in the dark on this one, looking for possible marraige info on mabel, trying to connect her to ireland eventually where i know they settled

Now there's a puzzle then with Mabel turning up!  Is this the same family?  I think they probably are.  They're in the same street and most things match within a year or two  Huh

hi there,
thanks yes im sure its the right family, cornwall street is where my grandmother, mabels sister lived even when married , now i just have to find out who mabel married , at least i know now a rough age so given that she was 14 or there abouts in 1901 it seems poss that she married between 1905 and 1910 at least that narrows the field a bit, thankyou so much for your help

just to say i am puzzled, it is the same family but checked 1891 census no mention of mabel yet the address is still holman buildings , perhaps she was staying with relatives ?
