ITALIANS to England
« on: Wednesday 16 March 05 09:52 GMT (UK) »

My great grandparents gave over to England in approx 1894 from Italy (possibly Bari).
Can anyone do a search or tell me where I can find records to clarify this.

Hi clarajo,

Hi,

No I've not been there. On my next trip over I might.
I had read up about Orlando Wine online though.

Hi JDG

I've tried your Anglo Italians site - it's good by the way but I couldn't find anything for the name

Ignazio MUGNAIO  - it's Scicilian supposedly Palermo......
I know it translates to Miller  but that's about it
a cousin has been to Sicily -  learned Italian -  poured over archives -  etc etc
Our relative was a seaman who changed his name to Matthew Miller -  said on the census he was a British Subject but we can find nothing..

Tried posting messages in different villages etc -  turned up 2 but they knew nothing of our Ignazio..... even tried an Italian genealogist.........
nothing we're at a dead stop.........the way it looks now is -  that his real name probably wasn't even Ignazio Mugnaio !!!!!!!!!

The point of all of this was to tell Clarajo -  good luck in your search -

Italy can be frustrating but don't give up...!

Regards
Annie
