Do I need a lot of signatures on the partition??

Hi Chatters,
My puter runs on Windows XP and have downloaded the viewer OK....it didn't want to download at first but after I closed all other windows and turned off my printer it doanloaded AOK. I also checked that the security setting was at "Medium."
I don't remember reading that it doesn't work with XP!!! I do remember that it won't work on Netscape and other browsers.
I think it's a bit flakey....keep trying...it should work.

Definately says try at your own risk with XP, no way on earth i will keep trying. Sorry indi but crashed my pc big time. and now using old viewer and fine so unless you know what you are doing i really wouldn't recommend it!!.(not aimed at you indi, just in general).

Well I use XP and I downloaded, and it worked fine! No problems at all and I didn't do anything else, left printer on, other progs were running... hey ho.
why have they done this anybody know? the other enhanced viewer worked just fine.

I'm on good old fashioned Windows 98-it downloaded okay(fingers crossed)
but now cannot save anything to file.
Anyone know what to do- other than wait till my 25 year old son can help his poor ole mum

I take back what I said earlier!
Download works fine, but I can't save either: just saved a dinky little picture of the disk icon!!
Have tried sending to a friend (not sure if that worked yet) and printing is fine.
Also just ordered a new puter, so that will be me totally out of business, LOL

Ok. it is possible to get old viewer back, but even then everytime you want an image you have to cancel the new viewer download really quickly and click continue.
What you do is firat of all make sure you know all your usernames and passwords for any internet sites you use.
Go to TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS in toolbar at top.
Delete cookies.
Then when you click on an image on ancestry it trys to download new viewer again, really quickly click cancel and then on the left continue is highlighted.
This uses the old viewer and it works fine.
If you miss it in time just go back through until you click it quick enough.
Took me about 10 goes though!!!
