Please can anyone help? I am looking for Arthur COOPER born 1893 who went to Melbourne Australia on the “Norseman”? About 1912/ 1913 with Frederick WRIGHT born about 1890/91, both from the Isle of Wight.
Thank you. I have searched but not found anything.

Dear Ann E You appear to have all you need. However, to correct a listing that you have to reject. Both Arthur Cooper (20) and Frederick Wright (22) disembarked at Melbourne in the month of February, 1913. The ship was the Norseman. I have no specific date, but assume it was a week or so before the Brisbane entry, referred to above. Therefore, the voyage appears to have taken 5 weeks. The arrival can be checked easily by searching for PROV = Public Records of Victoria ) Online Access ( to the records) BOL raveon

Wow, ! You all have been very busy, thank you all so much that is wonderful. I was told Arthur had tried to join the army twice and there was a problem with his feet, but didn’t think that there would be any army records. Thank also for the info on Frederick Wright, I think that his brother was my Godfather. Thank you all again Ann E

Ann You mention Army records. It would appear that Arthur Cooper's are available and can be read. My father's brother's record proved to be most interesting - he was killed as a 19 year old, without realisng his real name. If you would like to read Arthur's for yourself, they are available at the National Archives of Australia ( http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/imagine.asp?B=3407951&I=1&SE=1) . If you have any difficulty, just use www.naa.gov.au and use Search as GUEST selection in Menu toolbar Column 3 ( or 4) and at bottom Record Search. Ask for Arthur Cooper 1914 - 1918. I am sure you will recognise it ( 66 returns) as it lists Next of Kin - Frederick Cooper. It mentions on his enlistment that his mother was dead. This suggestion is a little cheeky. However, I have done it myself in my own research - that is, sent a letter to an address, asking if they are related. I usually apologise, just in case I have selected a wrong person. However, I have checked Australian Whitepages. There are two Coopers ( both A) and two Wrights living at Nathalia today. If you decide to send them a letter and cannot find the relevant information, just let me know. Raveon
