Natural Son?
« on: Saturday 19 March 05 14:17 GMT (UK) »

On a baptism register it says
1818 James son of Richard Goddard Heath an Maria (Steel)
and then says
1818 John Natural son of Richard Heath and Sarah White
Dose any one know what this means,
I'm assuming its an illegitimate son of Richard?

Hi Chrissy

Yes I am fairly sure in this context it does mean illegitiamate son of however it can also mean 'true' son of particularly when used in wills
