Hi Lincolnshire

I'm trying to trace a William Smith Stredder, who may or may not have come originally from Lincolnshire.  He ended up in the Birkenhead/Liverpool area, but there is no trace of him in the IGI although there are plenty of other Stredders there - all from Lincolnshire!

William Smith Stredder married Margaret Sparks, probably from Cheshire, and he called one of his children Amelia.  'Amelia Stredder' seems to be pretty common amongst the Lincolnshire Stredders, so I'm hoping...

Have you found them in any of the census?

What an ommission!

William Smith Stredder and Margaret Sparks' eldest son was born in about 1836 or so (Walter Stredder, he's on the IGI) and was born in Liverpool/Birkenhead.  

In the 1851 census, they already had 5 children at least, so my best guess is that William Smith Stredder would have been born in Lincolnshire in 1810-1815 or so.

William Stredder b. 10-16-1815 Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Margaret Sparks b. 1819, Slorton, Cheshire, d. 1885 Liverpoorl, Lancashire

Children:

Walter - 1838
Catherine - 1840
George Alfred - 1842
Alice Ann - 1844
Sarah - 1846
Emily - 1847
William Arthur - 1849
Amelia - 1850
John Joseph - 1851
Thomas Henry - 1853
Charles Frederick - 1855

Parents:

father: John Stredder b. 2-19-1787, Hucknall, Notts.

mother: Ann Gibbons b. 1784 Hucknall, Notts.

siblings: Gibbons, Josiah, William, Ann, Charles, Sophia, Millicent, John, Maria, Mary Ann.

John's father was Josiah Stredder b 1728
Josiah's father was Josiah Stredder b circa 1700
