Was ther a 1841 census?

Hi, does anyone know if there was an 1841 census taken.  Am looking for a William Galbraith b abt 1791, Ireland, mar Agnes Kenmuir 1824 Kirkolm.  She was chr 1799 Leswalt [father Charles Kenmuir b abt 1775 Kirkolm, mother Jean/Janet Agnew b abt 1770 Kirkolm].  Any help greatfully appreciated.

Yes there was but it does not give much detail.   Ages are rounded down to the nearest 5 and it only says whether they were born in the county where they are living or not.   On the whole it is not indexed.   Have a look at the Beginners' board and you will probably find lots of information there.

Hi Andrea, thanks for replying.  I do have some info from the 1851 census but was hoping to gain something new from 1841.  Not to worry, will keep searching.
