ggg-grandad William Vine's mill in Brighton

I've found strange entries in the 1881 census for Eleanor (b.1866) and George (b.1868) Button. They are recorded at 15 Queens Gardens together with some Padghams who I think are completely unrelated. However, I know that Mary Ann Button married my g-g-father George Henley in 1874 and was living at 12 Queens Gardens. I think George and Eleanor Button may have been recorded at the wrong address - would it possible for someone to check the corresponding records for 1871 and 1891 please ? Many thanks !

Wow that was fast ! And you're right - it does look like the same family. It means that Mary Ann is a very old sister and not a very young mother to George and Eleanor ! Many thanks.

Andrea - Many thanks for the efforts! The Henley and Button families were intertwined quite closely. George Henley married Mary Ann Button. Then Henry Henley married Eleanor Button (the younger). And George Button's daughter Helen married one of George Henley's sons, Ernest. I don't think the Padghams were related at all - and I think the Button entries in their household were probably a mistake (or maybe the Henley house was too full so they rented a room for them next door).

Thanks, Joe - that makes it 3 generations of Eleanor. They must have liked the name. And it's a branch of the family we never knew existed.
