Hi, I wonder if someone could kindly help me?.
I'm looking for information on a company in the Croydon area in the 1940's/50s by the name of "AKENTAB" l'm not sure of the spelling but it sounds like it.
All l know is it may have had something to do with surgical instruments.
I have tried to google it but no results?.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Robert
The company you are looking for is Acc & Tab. It was short for Accounting and Tabulators and was an early manufacturer of adding machines etc. up to the 1960's or thereabouts. Their factory was in Thornton Road, Croydon and they later bacame part of ICT which in turn became ICL, the computer people. Croydon Local History Library will no doubt have a lot on them. There are also a few hits on Google if you try "acc & tab". I lived just down the road and hence recoginised the 'name'.

Hi Peter,
I can't thank you enough for all your help and information, my grandfather worked there in the 1940's and was unsure as to the spelling and to the company's location.
