Hi there, just in case it is any good to your research, a friend  died on the 28th of december at Cramlington Northumberland,  He was Raymond Frederick Alfred Bettles  born 1921 in leigh on Sea in Essex.

Do you have a mary Bettles who married George Berwick August 1st. 1900 . The lived in Irthlingborough.
