Hi,

I don't think the records you are looking for are online.

There is some relevent info on the assize courts etc at:-

http://www.wolverhamptonarchives.dial.pipex.com/laworder_further.htm

Also an Australian site

http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/microform/general/s.cfm

has the following for sale:-

Staffordshire, England — Magisterial records, Staffordshire assizes and calendars of prisoners, 1777–1845. 4 vols. Printed with manuscript annotations. Includes name, age, when and by whom committed, crime and sentence. (1329 fr.)
[CY 1085: Z ML MSS 977]
(I think it's a bit pricey to buy for one lookup - around 220 dollers (AUS).)

Another source may be Birmingham & Staffordshire FHS:-

http://www.bmsgh.org/branches/branch2.html

You could always check their available publications, or email them for further advice and/or help.

Regarding birth, have you tried an IGI search:-

http://www.familysearch.org/

I'm not sure what searches the folks contributing to the Staffordshire Look Up Exchange are currently offering but it may be worth a try.

http://freespace.virgin.net/willen.hall/sts.html

Lastly, have you checked any Ships passenger lists - If its a convict ship then that may be easy to check especially if you know names, dates and embarkation points.

Hope this info has helped & good luck in your searches.

regards,
