I would really love to find my family photograph's, and any material relating to my Johnstone family in India.
My g-g-grndfather was Major Matthew Fox JOHNSTONE (born in Ireland in 1832) He enroled in the East India Company Artillery in 1853. My research shows that he remained in India for the duration of his life.
His wife was Rebecca WHEELER (they married in India)
His children are as follow's;-
Grace Anne (b 1860) Eustace (b 1862, married Pricilla Rae nee Matthew's) In Norfolk reg + Royal Highlanders, after retirement was Sup of Police, Bengal), died 1912/14 in India)
Matthew W (born 1863) - no other info found
Andrew (b 1865) - no other info found
Charles Jacob (b1866) - no other info found
Emily G ( b 1869, married Frank Edwin GWYTHER, Sec to Govt Bengal, listed in who's who. Emily had a daughter called Dorothy, who married capt Russell BEVERLEY)- Emily died in Chelsea, London 1923 - grave not found
Edward H (b 1875, married France BAKER, India 1901- had Douglas H and Angela Mary who married GILMOUR + other daughter unknown.
Arthur O , (born 1877, married RAYNOR in India 1900, unknown children, retired as Chief of police, India and lived in Egypt -returned to India and died c 1936.
I know your probably laughing by now...........But It would make my day to just find one photo of my ancestors, as I grew up with no knowledge of my family.
