Hi there

I am linked to the Redfords and Reids in this area and have a friend linked to the Mackays.  I think my Redfords married one of your Pirie's way back so we are probably very very very very distantly related!!

We have some details of Slater and Mair ancestors, from the 1850s (Cullen), and 1880s (Portnockie).  What is the best way of passing it on?  We are new to RootsChat.

Hi
We also have Anne Wood and Henry Lea who were married in Cullen in 1848 in our tree.  Our connection is through their son Alexander.  Anne Wood was the daughter of James Wood (tee name "Deacon") and Helen Rannie.   Would love to hear from anyone with a connection to exchange information.

Hi,this is probably a long shot but here goes.I'm trying to trace my Grandmother's birth, her name was Isabella Emslie Slater she married  Alexander Hodge and I know that in 1914 they were in Alloa. The most hopeful lead I have is from the 1881 census,  Isabella E Slater aged 7 daughter of Bathie Slater (head of household), Low St Port Soy.

There was also a Mary aged 11 and a Jeanie aged 5.

Have you come across this family and if so do you have any futher info.

Sorry but I don't think we have any connection - my husbands family is from Banffshire or Morayshire,  and the names you mention are not familiar ones.

...gfindlay... My Paternal Grandfather was Joseph Addison of Cullen, Banffshire.  A Herring fisherman, he was also a licensed steam engineer and owned and operated the fishing boat 'Shining Star' out of Cullen @ 1920(+/-).  He married Georgina Wood of Portnockie and emigrated to Canada, settling in Windsor, Ontario, where Georgina and their two sons (Edwin and MY father George Wood) joined him a year later.  They emigrated together as a family to Detroit, Michigan shortly thereafter.

If this information is helpful please feel free to contact me for dates etc.

Aside from this 'RootsChat' thing (with which I am most certainly unfamiliar) I can be reached at "DancesWithDucks9@aol.com...
