My SHELLARD family I have traced back to Edward SHELLARD and Jane ANSTEE who married at St Peter's Church, Dyrham & Hinton on 16 Feb 1744.
Edward & Jane had 8 children born at Dyrham
1 Thomas b 1794 d 1823 and buried Dyrham, m Betty ? and had children Sophia, Stephen, Moses, Mary Ann and Thomas
2 John b 1796 d 1845 buried Dyrham - no record of marriage
3 Edward b 1799 d 1856 - Inn keeper & Farmer, m Ann ? and had children Mary, Thomas & Hannah
4 Susannah b 1801 and had illeg child Letitia b 1821
5 Ann b 1804
6 Robert (my line) b 1810 Doynton
7 Hannah b 1812
8 Elizabeth b 1815
Robert SHELLARD b 1810 was a wheelwright, he married Ann SLADE at St Swithins, Bath on 23 Feb 1834 and lived and worked in Bath. Robert & Ann had 4 children,
1 Frederick b 1837 Twerton, Somerset, butcher, married Sara HATHERLEY at St Thomas a Becket, Bath on 25 Dec 1862
2 Edward Samuel (my 2xG Grandfather) b 1839 Bath, Coach Smith, m (i)Harriet Louisa HIGGINS 1865 Bath and (ii) Frances BLAZEBY ca 1871 St Pancras, London
3 Harriet b 1841 Bath, m Robert King 1874 St Pancras
4 Amelia b 1845 Twerton, m Frederick BROWN 1871 Hereford
Edward Samuel moved to North London ca 1865/66, his first wife, Harriet, was born in Bath and they married at Walcot Parish Church, Bath on 30 July 1865. Their first child, Harriet Jane, was born at 39 Little Pulteney Street, Westminster on 31 May 1866 and baptised at St Luke's Westminster on 16 Sept 1866. She died in Dec 1866.
Their second child was Walter William b 11 Mar 1868 and baptised at St Luke's Westminster 1868. He died in Stepney in 1882 aged 13.
I am not sure when Harriet died or when Edward remarried but on 30 November 1877 Charles Edward SHELLARD was born to Edward Samuel and Frances nee BLAZEBY.
Edward and Frances had 4 more children - Ann (or Nellie), Frances, Frederick and Harriet. Frederick was a colliery worker and moved to South Wales early in the 1900's. He married Elizabeth Myra DAVIES from Aberdare in 1914 and settled there.
Charles Edward SHELLARD remained in London and married my Great Grandmother Agnes COOPER.
