« on: Sunday 27 March 05 16:45 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to locate on any info on William Gage  born abt. 1831 in Bristol Avon Gloucestershire. His wife Eliza (last unknown), children Eliza Sarah Mary born, abt 1859, Ada born abt. 1862, Alice Victoria born abt 1860 William Henry born abt. 1868 and Sarah born abt. 1866. I have the family Ada, Alice Eliza, Sarah, William Head, William son in the 1871 census. Eliza Sarah Mary in the 1871 census with the Pritchards. I have William Henry, son Alice daughter, Eliza Head and Mary Horn granddaughter in 1881. I have Eliza as a servant in 1881. I have Ada in 1881 and Sarah in 1881. Any info on this family would really be appreciated.

Thank you

Dave,

I came across these entries on FreeBMD and although you may
have the information I thought I would mention it just in case.

Registration of Deaths:

William Gage      Qtr ro Mar 1884    District of Bedminster    Age 52
Eliza Gage          Qtr to Mar 1898    District of Bedminster    Age 64

Although I couldn't find William on the 1881 Census, I noticed that
the entry for Eliza did not state that she was a widow and as she
was living in Bedminster at that time I just wondered if these entries
related to them.

I also found the following details of registrations of Births, all in the
district of Bedminster.

Eliza Sarah Mary Gage       Qtr to Mar 1859
Alice Victoria Gage              Qtr to Mar 1860
Ada Jane Gage                   Qtr to June 1861
William Henry Gage            Qtr to Mar 1868

And finally an entry for a marriage in the district of Bristol in the
Qtr to Mar 1880 between an Eliza Sarah M Gage and George Horne.
However, if this is correct I'm not sure why Eliza was still using her
maiden name at the time of the 1881 Census.

I hope some of this proves useful.

Regards,

Ju

Hi Dave Smiley

Welcome to RootsChat.

Sorry I can't check the 1861 for you as Bedminster is not included in the Gloucestershire census.

You will need to post on the Somerset board for a lookup of the Gale family in 1861.

Good Luck

Hi Ju

Thanks for the info. I try to check all my info and really try to get it right. I missed that they were married in 1880 but shown as using her maiden name in 1881.

I like the Deaths of William and Eliza it certainly fits with what I have and have not found. Thanks again

Dave

Hi Darcy

Not sure if this is how you reply or not. I want to thank you for the info on Bedminister. It probably explains why I haven't been able to find anying. Looking in the wrong place.

Thanks this has helped alot!

You are doing just fine Dave Grin Grin and replied in the correct place.

The boundaries can be quite confusing and take a bit of getting used to.I get all confused myself at times.

Hope you have much success in Somerset!
