Hi,
I'm looking for information on Richard Matthews born 1838 in Sneinton Nottingham. He married Elizabeth born 1839 and they had a son Harry/Henry born 1860. Richard worked as a bricklayer when Harry/Henry got married. (I think there has been some confusion with handwriting on certificates but he is one and the same person!!!)
Does anyone know Elizabeth's maiden name, and the names of their parents?
Also Harry worked as a dray boy, a groom and a gardener in the Park district, and a coachman when he was older. Does anyone know whether he would have worked for the wealthy? He lived at Edward Street in the sub district Park?

1841 Census Manvers St Sneinton Nottm
William Matthews age 42 Occ. Slater
Charlotte age 35
James age 10
Eliza age 12
William age 1
Henry age 4
All born Nottingham

William Matthews married Charlotte King 17 Feb 1836 at St Mary Nottingham.

The only Richard that I have around 1860 is

Richard Matthews to Eliza Turton 1 June 1856 at St Mary Nottingham.

I hope it is of some help.

If Eliza Turton is the one the 1841 census Long Row Lenton Nottm
John age 50 Occ. FWK
Eliza age 40
Sarah age 20 Occ. Lace Mender
John age 5
Eliza age 3
Emma age 3 weeks
All born Nottingham

I have a marriage for John Turton to Eliza Handford 14 Sept 1834 at Eastwood Nottingham.
I would say with the children's age diff. Eliza was is second wife that is my guess.
