Cemeteries in the Dukinfield/Ashton Under Lyne area
« on: Saturday 22 May 04 15:53 BST (UK) »

Does anyone have a list of the cemeteries in the Dukinfield/Ashton Under Lyne area?  I suspect some of my Dickinsons and Whittakers are buried there and would like to know how I could go about finding information on them.

Hi!

If you send e-mail to the following, they will be able to give you the details of cemeteries in the areas you are looking at.

cemeteries@mail.tameside.gov.uk

or you can phone them on 0161 330 1901

Good Luck

Hello Leslie,

I have had some great help from the Cheshire FHS in the past for finding burials.

They have a number of deaths logged onto a database which they can then print off (for a very small fee). It lists all the Dickinsons buried in Cheshire and which graveyard they are buried in. Sometimes you even get an age as well.

if you can visit Dukinfield cemetry/crematorium the staff there have records of all burials in the Tamesde area (includes Ashton and Dukinfield). The staff are very helpful and will assist you with your searches. I think you may need to ring first to arrange an appointment.

They have started transferring some of the details onto their website at the web addrees you've already been given but due to staff shortages it is a slow process.

Contact me if you need directions or any other details.
