I am looking for Richard Feltham who was born in Compton Abbas in 1809 s/o John Feltham and Mary Tucker. He married in 1835 in Walcot, Bath to Jane Ruth Purnell of Great Cheverll, Wilts. They had one child Mary Ann born in 1836 place unknown. Richard disappears after the 1841 census when he is living in Compton Abbas, occupation Painter and aged 30. There is mention of him in the Poor Rate Assessment of 1860 for Compton Abbas but he disappears again by 1862. I cannot find a death for him in Compton Abbas - neither can I find a death registration for him in GRO. If anyone can help me locate him I would be extremely grateful
regards Mary

Hi Mary,
Welcome to RootsChat !
Apologies if you know it already, but I noticed you are also searching Muston as well as Feltham in Dorset and if you are searching in Dorset then you need to know this site:
The Dorset Online Parish Clerks (OPC): http://www.dorset-opc.com
It has a HUGE database and a good search engine. There is a description on RootsChat at Dorset OPC
I entered "feltham richard compton" and "Find ALL words" and got the 1841 census, which you have already But I also noticed a lot of FELTHAMs everywhere and, after a second look, over 50 MUSTONs.
Maybe it's worth a look, to see if you recognise anybody. The Dorset OPCs also do look-ups, so if the records aren't on-line, you may find something that way.
Another avenue is the Dorset Parish Registers Index, at http://www.rootsweb.com/~engdorse/PRBT.html
Limited data, but searching for "my lot" in Blandford, I noticed there are some FELTHAMs and MUSTONs there.
Good luck, Bob

Searching for Coleman, Moore, Kallnung in London; Margulies, Remenyi in E. Europe; Ancestors of Hessie Stevenson-Coleman-Baxter (Ireland, 1861) and, of course, any other ancestors for my web-site. All Census Data included in this post is Crown Copyright (see: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk)

Thanks for the information Bob, and yes I do know about the OPCs etc. I have been researching the Muston and Feltham name in Dorset along with others for some time now. It is just Richard that is intriuging me - he is not my direct line. I just thought I would have a try and post his name up just in case anyone had come across him somewhere.
Thank you again for your advice regards Mary
