If you have found them on Free BMD you could order the certificate from the GRO quoting the refernce, quarter and relevant year. You will not need the place of marriage to obtain the certificate.

You could look to see if they have been indexed on Lancashire bmd yet:

http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/

Otherwise it could be any of the places that come under the Prestwich registration district:

Beswick, Blackley, Bradford, Cheetham, Clayton (1895-1924), Crumpsall, Failsworth, Great Heaton, Harpurhey, Little Heaton, Moston, Newton, Prestwich

http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/lan.htm

and there's likely to be more than one church/chapel in some places.  Also, if it was a registry office wedding then the only way that you will get the details is by purchasing a certificate.

Best wishes

They do not appear to be on Lancs bmd and we have emailed Bury and Manchester to see if the indexes are there.

We did not want to pay for the 3 certificates, but wanted to know where the family would have married.

Thanks to you both for your reply.

Back to the church idea - the main parish church in Prestwich is - and was - St Mary's.
There are other CofE churches, St Margaret's, St Hilda's to name the two that spring to mind.
There are lots of non-conformist chapels in the area, RC and Jewish places of worship.
Most of these PRs are at Manchester Central Library - they have a website http://www.manchester.gov.uk/libraries/arls that lists all the registers they have.

Thanks for your posting "united" - we are a bit too far away to go to Manchester Central Library - living in Australia.

I am the great grandson of Hyman Frieser.

I have a copy of the marriage certifcate of Hyman Frieser to Celia Lewis.

The marriage took place at the home of Celia at 71 Stocks Street, Cheetham, Manchester, on 3 September 1879. The ceremony was carried out according 'to the rites and ceremonies of the Jews' Celia was later known as Cecelia.

My interest is to discover any information about my grandfather Frederick Frieser - later known as John Fraser from about 1900.

We have been helping Fiona, daughter of Leonard Ernest Fraser b 1919, son of John Fraser and Blanche Ann Baker m 1909, trace her ancestors. I guess you are descended from his brother ?
We would appreciate any extra details you could give us.

Alex and Jan

Fiona is my cousin. Her father Len was Bernard's (my father) brother.
Fiona mentioned that she was getting help on the research so thanks for the work that you have put in on this. I was having a great problem finding the Frieser family in the 1891 and the 1901 census. Reading your postings for the first time yesterday made my day. I had not seen this website before.

I have a copy of John Fraser's birth certificate. He was born in 1879 just before his parents were married. His birth certificate records his name as Frederick Frieser. I am confident that Frederick and John are the same person because my father Bernard met John Fraser's brother Louis and his sister Eleanor (Nellie) in 1939 and remembered their address in Great Cheetham Street Manchester. The same address shows Louis Frieser and Eleanor living at the address at that time. I have both their dealth certs and Wills.

We went to Krakow in Poland to see if we could find out about Morris and Miriam Frieser Hyaman's parents but there are hardly any Jews in

Can you please let me know what you know about Sarah Frieser or Solomon Frieser? Do you know what happened to Elias?

Best wishes

Hi Barry,
Good to hear from you again - we also got Frederick/John's birth certificate - we got help on RootsChat as we could not find John Fraser b 15 Aug 1880 (the details Fiona gave us to start out) we also got his marriage to Blanche Baker.
Helpers on RootsChat found them in 1881, 1891 and 1901 for us - they are great helpers on this site.
Fiona is in England at the moment - we had been hoping to get an email from her but now heard anything of her.
There was not any other help with any of the other Friesers.
We could email you any details we have if you like.

Hi,

My family also came from Krakau / Krakow.

Try this site for masses of B, D, M, census, and other data about jews in Krakau
http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/Krakow/

the biggest drawback, is that there doesn't seem to be a "search this site" facility, and this means you have to click on the individual links for B and D and M for each year !!

But I saw FREISER mentioned several times, so if you have the time, you could get lucky !

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the site -  had a quick look but could not see a birth where I expected it to be and the years for marriages did not go to the year I thought they would have married :-(

Thanks again
