Lightoller

Sylvia Lightoller, wife of C H Lightoller - 2-I-C of the "Titanic".
Can anyone tell me who were Sylvia Lightoller's parents or siblings?
I know she was Australian, born about 1885 in New South Wales and died in England in 1969. She and Charles were married about 1903.
Any information would be greatly appreciated

Hi Jeanlit Found the following on a website about Charles Herbert Lightoller
'While working the Australian run he met the love of his life, "the most beautiful woman [he'd] ever seen", an Australian, Sylvia Hawley Wilson. Due to a foot deformity she was unable to make her way safely about the ship. Lightoller carried her everywhere. They were married in 1900 and had 5 children, Roger, Trevor, Mavis, Doreen and Brian.'
I would think they were married in Australia
Hope it is of some help Robert

Thanks Robert
That gives me her children, but I am still to find their marriage in New South Wales. Maybe they did not marry there but "on the high seas". Do you know where marine marriages between England and Australia are registered?

Hi Jean
Lightoller was fourth in command. He was Second Officer, so he was junior to the Master, Chief Officer and First Officer.

Officer's details are in the Deck Crew and Deck Department sections.

Hi Ken
Thanks for the site on the Titanic - very informative. I have spent ages looking through it and finding that the Lightollers continued on, through the two World Wars and beyond.
It brings the whole sad story up close.
