Help with understanding Pallot's Marriage Index entires
« on: Friday 01 April 05 21:36 UTC (UK) »

Not sure whether this should be on the beginners' board but I'm hoping someone can tell me the significance of the various abreviations on the record (I think is) for my ggg grandparents.  Tried to attach the image but without success.  The entry reads:

PORTER* Martha
               sp p. Weymouth
James Parsons
               b p. Weymouth

Wyke Regis Dorset 1806

I'd like to know what the sp (underlined). p. and b (underlined) mean.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Allan

Thanks Casalguidi,

They're looking increasingly like my ggg grandparents since my gg grandmother Sarah Porter Parsons was born in Weymouth and her mother (according to the 1861 census) was called Martha, born in Portsmouth - hence my need to check out that the abreviations didn't refer to a place of birth.
