Hi Fran

I have never come across that place name in Yorkshire I'm afraid.

There is Louth in Lincolnshire but that's about the best I can do.

Best wishes

Fran,

According to Bartholomew's Gazetteer, there was no such place, at least with that spelling, by the 1950s.

There is a Loth in Sutherland, but that seems a bit too far North!

There is a Lothersdale near Skipton and a Lotherton near Tadcaster.

As Ticker suggests, Louth seems to be the most likely place, but it's well down the coast.
