These are the surnames I am researching on my paternal side of family tree. My dad was Samuel Walter Cleaver b1909 d1979. I know he had siblings but can only find 3 of them: Rosina b1912 - Arthur b 1918 - Thomas b1920. I am sure there were more before 1909. His dad's name was William Ernest Cleaver who married Jane Martha Bates in 1900. I am sure there was a son who got scolded and died in hospital at a very young age. They were born in Birmingham/Kings Norton/Aston. Any help would be much appreciated as I have no contact with any relations of my dad's and would love to find some. Thanks Julie

Hi
I found William E Cleaver, Brass Founder (aged 23 born in birmingham) in the 1901 census living at 6 Rossbury? Terrace, Aston with Jane M Cleaver (aged 22 born in birmingham) RG13/2856, 130, 7. There are no children at this stage.
There are quite a lot of Cleaver births on FreeBMD in Aston between 1901 and 1909, but if you have a look you might recognise family names?
Cheers Wendy

Hi Again,
I looked up your William E Cleavers family in past census, i thought It might give you hints to first names. There was a tendency, not always, for people to name the first son and daughter after his parents the second after hers and the third after themselves or siblings. Anyway, here they are (they are all listed as being born in birmingham)
1891 census Frederick J Cleaver...35.... head.... Brass Dresser Jane....36....wife Children: William E....13 frederick T....12 Arthur E...9 Thomas.....7
In 1901 the rest of his family were living in birmingham: Frederick....45 Jane....46 Arthur....19 Thomas....17 Rosina.....7
Brother Frederick...20 married to Alice...22, they have William A...8months
Hope that helps, let me know if you want anything else. Cheers wendy

Hi Wendy, Thanks so much for your help and time. I am going to contact GRO and see if they can help with any children born 1900 - 1909 as I don't want to order irrelevant birth certs. As you said there are quite a few Cleavers born around then and I hope if I can give parents names they may be able to help. If not then maybe a trip to Birmingham will be the order of the day. Thanks once again, take care Julie
