Hi Rosalind, and welcome to rootschat. Do not forget that once you have spun around the boards have a look in at the chat room where members can also help out (sometimes, it seems instantly). It can be a bit daunting going in there for the first time but once you get used to it, it does become easier. Enjoy your time on here as the natives don't bite and are very friendly. old rowley Thanks old rowley, I hope that I will do this soon and so far rootschat seems to be a friendly forum.

I am researching the Franklin, Samuel's, Jessel's. Waleys and Sassoon's among other many branches of my family. I am also related to the bio-scientist Rosalind Franklin, who discovered the Single DNA Helix structure in 1953. But one of my main regrets in my life is that I never met this talented lady, who died at the young age of 37 in 1958 !! It is fun doing this amount of research.

I was bumbling around on another website and someone suggested I should join Rootschat as you are all very nice and helpful! I can't even remember which website it was! I wonder if they wanted to get rid of me ........! Anyway, I am glad I joined and to all who have helped me a big grateful thankyou.
Sue

Hi Rosalind
And welcome to Rootschat!!
Try the Armed Forces board. It has a child board for World War I which may be an appropriate place to put your query.
Best wishes,
MarieC

Rosalind,
"Child" board means that it is a sub-board of a main subject board - in this case, the Armed Forces Board! It has nothing to do with children!
Take a look at the main page of Rootschat, the index board with all the boards listed on it, and you'll see what I mean. It's a good idea to have a thorough browse around Rootschat and familiarise yourself with its layout.
