I don't think I've seen this posted before so might it be interesting to know how we all found our way to Rootchat?
Me ...................... a fellow researcher sent me a link to a post which she thought may be of interest to me - little did she know what she was getting me into

by My Daughter. Chatting to find her Roots !
|
For the life of me I can't remember.
I probably saw a reference to it on some other site, but as it was the first forum I joined,(since then ScotlandsPeople [now defunct] and GenesReunited [now less interesting]) I just don't know where.
But, as Graceland says:
it don,t really matter how we found it but its a great site I'll drink to that !!

On google search engine . I can't remember what exactly I was searching for, whether a name of one of my rellies or a general genealogy query I was looking for . I just stumbled across this site by pure accident. I'm hooked , it's the best for helpfullness and friendliness

I got in contact with a distant relative through a Mailing List last autumn and he recommended I look at Rootschat where he'd posted some info of a common ancestor - the rest, as they say, is history. Been hanging around here ever since

I'm not really sure because I originally joined the site in January 2004. But I think I was just Googling and found it by accident!!! I didn't use it much in the early days, but from last September I've been hooked
One of the best "accidents" to happen to me

Hi,
I found it by travelling along wee back roads and rough Irish country lanes. I came through many Irish townlands http://www.seanruad.com/ - 12k Irish Townland Search. I found 5 places starting with " Root ", three ending in " hat " threw in " sc " for super chat and arrived here . It has to be an Irish townland. I've never met so many people with the gift of the gab. Have all of yez kissed the Blarney Stone ?

Forever Searching
|

I was googling one day and up came RootsWeb, which I didn't want, however, underneath was Rootschat - I clicked on that out of curiousity, and hey presto, what a lucky find it turned out to be !

I think I saw it mentioned in a magazine article and being nosey, at a loose end and surrounded by family tree brick walls thought I'd have a look!
I'm still nosey....less often at a loose end...but have knocked down monumental brick walls all with the help of Rootschat!!
So if you don't mind, I'll keep coming back!

I saw mention of it in a newspaper article about a teenager who had started tracing his family tree. The rest is (family) history!
